April 28, 2008
The AHS Jr./Sr. prom, "The Red Carpet Affair" took place Saturday, April 19, 2008. Everyone slowly gathered around 5:30 pm. when pictures began at the American Legion in Axtell. Following pictures, AHS students and their dates proceeded to the high school gym for the dinner. The dinner, fresh off the grill thanks to Roy Buessing and Rollie Peschel, consisted of brisket, chicken, corn, beans, baked potatoes, rolls, dessert and a choice of tea or water. After the meal, the senior prophecies and wills were read.
It was approximately 8 o’clock when many spectators gathered to watch as the students and their dates participated in the Grand March. As the attendees were announced, they made their way through the gazebo right outside the legion, pausing to have pictures taken. When the Grand March was finished, the dance started. Everyone seemed to be having a good time singing, dancing, and socializing.
At 11:30 p.m. the dance ended and everyone rushed off to change to be back in the Legion for the after prom party by 12:00. There were many games such as guitar hero, plinko, foosball, limbo and many more; all giving out cash prizes. One of the games consisted of using swim noodles and you had to break the other person’s eggs that were attached to their backs. You would hit the eggs with noodles. By the time 3 a.m. rolled around, the after prom and drawings were finally over and everyone went home. After-prom was sponsored by the junior and senior parents.
It was a night full of excitement, and everyone seemed to have a good time.
~The Junior class would just like to thank everyone who made this event possible!!~
