Congratulations to all the Axtell High School graduates and alumni who received scholarships this year! Listed below are the recipients of scholarships awarded by donors through Axtell High School. Recipients of these scholarships were awarded, in total, more than $16,800 this year. Listed below the Axtell scholarship are all other scholarships received by graduating Axtell seniors in 2008. Best of luck to all these alumni in the post-secondary pursuits.
Soar as an Eagle Scholarship
Recipient: Nathan Hollis, Class of 2008
This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior by a local anonymous donor.
Katherine Heiman-Dick Scholarship
Recipient: Ashley Blonquist, Class of 2008
This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior from a trust fund established by Mr. and Mrs. M. Richard Imes in honor of Imes’ mother, Katherine Heiman-Dick.
OpportunityScholarship
Recipient: James Shaughnessy, Class of 2008
This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior by a local anonymous donor.
Audrey E. Brinker Music Student Scholarship
Recipients: Erin Shaughnessy, Class of 2002; Russell Ronnebuam, Class of 2004 and James Shaughnessy, Class of 2008
This scholarship is awarded annually from a trust fund established by the Brinker family in honor of Audrey E. Brinker to Axtell alumni and former music students of Audrey’s currently attending college.
“Rockey” Rothfelder Washburn Scholarship
Recipients: Joanna Alfers, Class of 2005 and Carla Meyer, Class of 2005
This scholarship is awarded annually from Mr. Rothfelder to two Axtell alumni enrolled at Washburn University.
Ralph von Riesen Scholarship
Recipient: Kelton Kuckelman, Class of 2008
This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior through the von Riesen Charity Trust Fund.
