Axtell Receives $2,000 Wal-Mart Grant
Axtell Jr./Sr. High School is the recipient of a $2,000 grant from the Wal-Mart corporation to be used for the school student incentive program! The grant was awarded to the school on the morning of Monday, March 2 by Bruce Mitchell. Bruce is a Wal-Mart employee and a school patron. Bruce submitted the grant proposal to Wal-Mart at the urging of the Axtell Site Council. At a fall Site Council meeting Mr. Rottinghaus had asked members for ideas to reward students with the school incentive program. Council member Eulala Mitchell suggested the idea of applying for a Wal-Mart grant.
The student
incentive program is used as a means to reward students for good
behavior in our school. After each semester concludes, the school
conducts an assembly and has a student drawing, the winners of
which receive gift certificates or other rewards. The drawing is
made available to students with an unblemished record in three
areas: promptness to class, discipline, and attendance.
Accordingly, any student who has received a tardy, a discipline
point, or an unexcused absence is excluded from the drawing. The
money from this grant will be used to purchase rewards for the
incentive giveaway for the next several semesters.

Thank you Wal-Mart for supporting the Axtell incentive program!
