Local Scholarships Awarded in 2009 to Axtell Graduates and Alumni

Soar as an Eagle Scholarship

Recipient:  Jason Ronnebaum, Class of 2009

This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior by a local anonymous donor.

“Rocky” Rothfelder Washburn Scholarship

Recipients:  Erin Koch and Jessica Peschel, Class of 2009

This scholarship is awarded annually from Mr. Earnest “Rocky” Rothfelder to one or two graduating seniors enrolling at Washburn University.

Katherine Heiman-Dick Scholarship

Recipient:  Maggie Burger and Hillary Mitchell, Class of 2009

This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior from a trust fund established by Mr. and Mrs. M. Richard Imes in honor of Imes’ mother, Katherine Heiman-Dick.

Audrey E. Brinker Music Student Scholarship

Recipients:  Russell Ronnebuam, Class of 2004, James Shaughnessy, Class of 2008, and                  Amy Stallbaumer, Class of 2009

This scholarship was awarded from a trust fund established by the Brinker family in honor of Audrey E. Brinker to Axtell alumni and former music students of Audrey’s currently attending college.

The Axtell Education Association Scholarship

Recipient:  Amy Stallbaumer, Class of 2009.

This scholarship is awarded annually by the USD #488 Teachers’ Association to a graduating senior.

The Axtell Community Service Award 

Recipient:  Adam Ronnebaum, Class of 2009 and Casey Werner, Class of 2010.

This scholarship is awarded annually by the Knights of Columbus and the Axtell Pride Committee to two juniors and/or seniors for community service.

The Axtell Alumni Association Scholarship

Recipient:  Maggie Burger and Adam Ronnebaum, Class of 2009

This scholarship is awarded annually by the Axtell Alumni Association to one or more graduating seniors based on a essay they compose describing the qualities of life in a small town.

Ralph von Riesen Scholarship

Recipient:  Amy Stallbaumer, Class of 2008

This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior through the von Riesen Charity Trust Fund.
