The Axtell seniors attended the Marshall County Annual Government Day on Monday, October 5, 2009. The day consisted of going to different offices of the courthouse and community corrections. The following were the offices students visited and learned what happens in the respective parts of the local government: District Court, Register of Deeds, Economic Development, County Commissioners, County Clerk/Elections, County Treasurer, Appraiser, Extension Office, Emergency Management, Road & Bridge, and Community Corrections (Jail, 911 offices, booking area, Sheriff's office).

Students from the Axtell, Marysville, Frankfort, and Valley Heights Schools visited the Veteran's Memorial located at the American Legion in Marysville. Food was prepared by the Women's Legion Auxiliary at the Legion.

After lunch, students were able to sit in on three court cases. Overall, the day was full of learning!
